Andy began his investing journey during the early 1990s. He picked up a copy of Jim Rogers book Investment Biker and Doug Casey’s Crisis Investing which inspired him to become a commodity trader and junior mining stock speculator. He later became an early investor in Bre-X and cashed out before the crash to pay for college. In 2000, he became a licensed commodities broker for a boutique commodities futures brokerage in Reno, Nevada where he met his future and current hedge fund partner, Dennis Leontyev.
In 2006, one of the wealthiest families in the State of Georgia asked Andy to become a risk consultant and then seeded his first hedge fund with tens of millions of dollars. The focus was on natural resource stocks and precious metals. That same year, he started an online media portal that interviewed small and large-cap natural resource stock companies and hedge fund traders. In 2009, wanting to spend more time with his family, he cashed out of the hedge fund business (while successfully navigating the financial crisis) and sold his online portal business to his partner.
In 2023, he launched NaturalResourceStocks.net with his partner Drew Strickland. The focus is interviews with CEOs and analysts in the natural resource industry. NaturalResourceStocks.net receives thousands of new visitors per month, with the YouTube channel receiving 100k-200k views per month.
For the past fifteen years, he has managed his own investment portfolio. In 2021, his oldest daughter approached him wanting to invest her money in natural resource stocks, and he helped her develop her own portfolio. In January 2025, he and other accredited investors seeded La Nina Natural Resource Stock Fund, with the focus on precious metals, large-cap natural resource stocks, and junior mining and drilling companies. Dennis Leontyev is a partner and serves as portfolio manager and head trader.
Andy lives in Atlanta, GA. He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, sporting events in the Atlanta area, and spending time with his amazing wife Denisa, and five kids.
